Let’s cut to the chase – you’ve got to be 18.
In China, before 2022, it was kind of up in the air because there weren’t any specific rules against minors getting inked.
Generally, folks thought 18 was a good age to start tattooing.
But you know how trends go, right? With younger people being more open-minded and influenced by pop culture, even smaller cities saw more teens rocking tattoos.
So, in June 2022, the State Council’s Office for the Protection of Minors stepped in with the “Measures for the Governance of Minors’ Tattoos.”
Now, these rules say no-go for businesses, groups, or folks giving tattoos to minors. Break the rule, and you’re in legal trouble.
It also says parents or guardians can’t let their under-18 kids get tattoos. So, if you’re not 18 yet, even if your parents say yes, there is no ink for you.
And hey, heads up – even though the rules set a bottom age, some tattoo joints might be sticklers about age. It’s all about being pros and taking things seriously. Some tattoo artists might ask for ID just to make sure you’re legit 18.
Long story short, getting a tattoo in China has age rules, just like everywhere else. It’s all about keeping the young ones safe.
